What Prediqon collects about you, why we hold it, who we share it with and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are
Prediqon is a curated prediction platform for Nigeria. You answer challenges about future events — some free to enter, some with a paid entry — and win prizes for being accurate.
The platform is operated by Striderk LTD (RC8043624), of 5 Rex Grafics Street, Karu, Abuja, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, within the meaning of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (the “NDPA”).
This policy explains what we collect about you, why we hold it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it. It should be read alongside our Terms of Use, which govern your use of the platform.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Prediqon website and apps, and to every service we provide through them. It does not cover other companies we work with who handle your data under their own policies — in particular your bank and the licensed payment providers who process entry fees and withdrawals — or third-party sites we link to.
By “personal data” we mean information that identifies you, or that can be linked back to you. Data that has been aggregated or anonymised so that it can no longer be connected to you is not personal data, and this policy does not restrict what we do with it.
3. What we collect
Most of what we hold is information you give us directly. Some is recorded automatically as you use the platform, and some comes back to us from the payment providers who process your entries and withdrawals.
- Account details. Your first and last name, display name, username, email address and, if you add one, your phone number. Your password is never stored in a readable form — we keep only a one-way hash of it, which means nobody at Prediqon can read, recover or tell you your password.
- Age and eligibility. Your date of birth, and a record of whether your eligibility to use the platform has been checked and what the result was. Prediqon is for adults aged 18 and over.
- Verification codes. Single-use tokens for email verification, password resets and phone one-time passcodes. These are stored hashed and expire.
- Your predictions and performance. The challenges you enter, the answers you choose, when you submitted them, how they resolved, and the accuracy statistics, category statistics, badges and leaderboard standing derived from them.
- Entry payments. When you pay to enter a challenge you are handed to a licensed payment provider. Your card number, bank credentials and one-time passcodes are entered on the provider’s own page and never reach our servers. What we record is the amount, the currency, the provider’s reference for the transaction, its status and timings, and the response the provider sends back to us.
- Payout details. To pay you, we need somewhere to send the money. When you add a bank account, we ask the payment provider to confirm the name on it. We then keep only the bank, the last four digits of the account number, the account name the provider returned, and the provider’s own token for that recipient. Where a provider does not support tokenisation, the full account number is held encrypted and is never returned by our API.
- Rewards and withdrawals. A running record of each prize credited to your rewards balance and each withdrawal debited from it, with a description and a running balance. These entries cannot be altered or deleted once written.
- Device and connection data. The IP address and browser user-agent recorded against each sign-in session, and the times you sign in. We use these to keep sessions secure, to end sessions you no longer want, and to detect misuse.
- Your messages to us. Support requests, dispute submissions and any other correspondence, along with our replies.
- Integrity records. Risk flags raised against an account — for example duplicate accounts, automation, collusion between accounts, or unusual entry patterns — and an audit trail of consequential actions taken on the platform. These records exist so that prize decisions can be justified, and they cannot be edited after the fact.
- Your notification preferences. Which notifications you have chosen to receive, and on which channels.
5. How we use your data
- To create and run your account, and to sign you in securely.
- To accept your predictions, resolve challenges, calculate results and award prizes.
- To take entry payments, pay out rewards, and keep accurate financial records of both.
- To confirm you are eligible to take part, including that you are 18 or over.
- To detect, investigate and act on fraud, duplicate accounts, automation, collusion and other misuse — and to justify the decisions we take as a result.
- To handle disputes you raise about how a challenge was resolved.
- To send you service messages about your account, your entries, your payments and changes to our terms.
- To send you optional updates about Prediqon, where you have asked to receive them. You can stop these at any time.
- To keep the platform secure and working, diagnose faults, and improve how it performs.
- To meet our legal, regulatory, accounting and tax obligations, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- To establish, exercise or defend legal claims involving us or you.
6. Our legal basis for using it
The NDPA requires us to have a lawful basis for every use of your personal data. Depending on what we are doing, we rely on one of the following.
- Performing our contract with you. Running your account, accepting entries, resolving challenges, paying prizes and processing withdrawals.
- Your consent. Optional analytics cookies and optional marketing messages. You can withdraw consent at any time, and doing so does not affect what we did while it was given.
- Compliance with a legal obligation. Keeping financial and transaction records, meeting tax and anti-money-laundering duties, and responding to lawful requests from courts, regulators and law enforcement.
- Our legitimate interests. Protecting the integrity of the platform, preventing fraud and abuse, securing accounts, and improving the service — where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
7. What other users can see
Some of your information is visible to other people using Prediqon: your username, your display name, any badges you have earned, your standing on leaderboards, and your entries on challenges that have already resolved.
Your email address, phone number, date of birth, bank details, rewards balance and payment history are never shown to other users. If you would rather not be identifiable to people who know you, choose a username and display name that do not include your real name — you can change both in your profile.
9. Sending data outside Nigeria
Some of the suppliers above store or process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we transfer your data only on a basis the NDPA permits — because the destination offers adequate protection, because our contract with the supplier imposes equivalent safeguards, or because the transfer is necessary to perform our contract with you.
10. How we protect it
- Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, so they cannot be read or recovered from our systems.
- Where we hold a full bank account number at all, it is encrypted, and it is never returned by our API.
- Sign-in sessions are held as hashed tokens, expire on their own, and can be revoked.
- Staff access is limited by role, and staff accounts are separate from user accounts.
- Every withdrawal requires two different members of staff — one to request it and a different one to approve it.
- Consequential actions are written to an audit trail that cannot be edited or deleted afterwards.
No service can promise perfect security, and we do not. Protect your side of it too: use a password you have not used anywhere else, do not share it, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has reached your account.
11. How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. After that, how long we hold something depends on what it is.
- If you delete your account, your personal details are removed or anonymised.
- Your prediction, result, payment and ledger records are kept, but in a form that is no longer linked to you by name. We cannot simply erase them: they are financial and competition-integrity records that have to stay complete and balanced, and other people’s results depend on them.
- Financial and transaction records are kept for as long as Nigerian tax, accounting and anti-money-laundering law requires.
- Audit and risk records are kept for as long as they may be needed to justify a decision or defend a claim.
12. Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- ask us to delete your data, subject to the records we are required to keep (see above);
- ask us to restrict how we use your data while a concern is resolved;
- object to uses that rely on our legitimate interests;
- receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and have it sent to another provider where that is technically possible;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent;
- not be subject to a decision with a legal or similarly significant effect taken solely by automated means. We use automated checks to flag accounts for review, but a person decides what happens next.
To exercise any of these, email us at privacy@prediqon.ng. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand your data to someone else. We will respond within the time the NDPA allows.
You can delete your account yourself from your profile settings, and change the details we hold at any time from your profile.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. We would ask you to raise it with us first — most concerns are quicker to resolve directly.
13. Age restriction
Prediqon is strictly for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If we find that we have, we close the account and delete the data, except where the law requires us to keep a record. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us at privacy@prediqon.ng.
14. Links to other sites
Prediqon links to sites we do not run — news sources cited in a challenge, and the payment provider’s own pages. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your data, and this policy does not apply to them. Read their policies before giving them anything.
15. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we do with your data changes. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email rather than relying on you to notice — and where the change requires your consent, we will ask for it.
16. Contact us
For anything about this policy or your personal data, email privacy@prediqon.ng, or write to Striderk LTD (RC8043624), 5 Rex Grafics Street, Karu, Abuja, Nigeria.
